ANDY Allardice believes his young Dudley Town side will embrace life on the road.

The Robins are facing four away games in succession following last Saturday’s home draw with Wellington.

Allardice’s men are set to go to Wolverhampton Casuals tonight before a trip to face Pegasus Juniors on Saturday. They will take on Gornal at Garden Walk on Bank Holiday Monday and then Shifnal Town on September 3.

The manager said: “We are a young team but we’ll be able to deal with playing so many away games. I don’t think it will be a problem. Their attitude has been really good.

“Hopefully we can pick up a few more points and build on what we have already done.”

“I’ve been very impressed with Rhys Boswell, Lewis Mitchell, Connor Rich and Luke Brookes in the last few games. They have done well and can hopefully continue their form.”

Dudley will be helped by the arrival of former player Lee Smith, who returned to the Dell earlier this month and will now captain the side.

Town had to settle for a point against Wellington after conceding late on after a mix-up in defence.

Shawn Devonport had handed Dudley the lead before Wellington levelled in the last 20 minutes. The goal came after stand-in goalkeeper Andy Arnold threw the ball against debutant defender Lewis Mitchell and the ball rebounded for the Wellington forward to pounce.

Allardice added: “I was really annoyed by the goal. It was a poor mistake that came at a time when we were in total control.

“Both players had done really well up until then as well.”

Arnold is an outfield player who had to go in goal in the absence of usual keeper Mike Kimberley and after a move for Dylan Cooknell fell through.

Allardice has now made approaches for two new shot-stoppers to fill the void.
