PATRICK Fotheringham continued Halesowen Academy's domination of the Stourport Tuesday Evening Series by winning a field sprint in the second category race.

It means no less than six of the eight Academy members have tasted victory this season.

Halesowen's Charles Walker has lost his overall lead in the series - but that is only due to the fact he is no longer eligible to ride having been promoted to first category.

However, Forrest Lambert-Humphries still leads the third category series.

In the meantime Charles Walker is now targeting elevation to elite category status.

He got his campaign off to a cracking start after finishing second at the Darley Moor circuit in Derbyshire beaten only by Bertie Newey, who won the Eddie Soens early season classic in March.

Walker finished a mere half a wheel behind Newey in the sprint for the line which eventually decided the 30 mile event.

Halesowen continue to lead the West Midlands Road Race League through Jack Stanton-Warren, who like Walker, has been promoted to first category and cannot contest the final two events.

But Halesowen were well served by Patrick Fotheringham who continued his club's consistent showing by placing seventh in the penultimate round, which was the Alan Goddard Memorial, a 70 mile event staged in Shropshire last Sunday.

Fotheringham and team mate Jack Hobbs rode aggressively throughout to defend Stanton-Warren's individual lead and marking dangerman Matt Garthwaite of Rhino Racing Team in the process.

Fotheringham had sufficient strength to take seventh spot in the mass sprint and maintain Halesowen's challenge to rivals the Rhino Racing Team.
