HALESOWEN Town chairman Colin Brookes wants to end the campaign with victory this Saturday.

The Yeltz face Grantham Town at The Grove as they bring the curtain down on an impressive season in the Northern Premier League following last year's promotion.

This weekend's visitors sit just one place below in the table due to gold difference.

Brookes said: "It would be great to end on a high. A win would be a brilliant way to end the season and make sure we finish as high as possible.

"It would be great if we could get a lot of fans coming to watch again and give the players a good send off for how well they have played throughout the season.

"Fans will also have the chance to vote for their player of the season, so it will be a great occasion.

"We have done fantastically well and the fans have been a big part of that. They have stayed with us and hopefully we can give them another win."

Manager John Hill's men will have to bounce back from last Saturday's disappointing 4-1 away defeat at the hands of play-off chasing Curzon Ashton.

A depleted Halesowen travelled with only 14 players due a host of injuries and suspensions.

An early penalty made their task harder when Joe Guest was bundled over in the box and Sam Walker stepped up to convert the spot kick

Shortly after, Iyseden Christie should have done better when he got behind the home defence but his finish was tame.

Christie looked the most dangerous for Halesowen and he forced a second half save from Hakan Burton.

Halesowen were looking the better side a lot of the time and got their equaliser in the 58th minute when the ball fell kindly for David Meese whose shot took a deflection as it made its way into the net.

But Curzon regained the lead when a free flowing move involving Joe Guest resulted in Ashley Stott pulling his shot past Sargent in the Halesowen goal.

They extended this on 70 minutes when substitute Ryan Brooke found some space and lashed the ball in from 20 yards out.

Alex Brown ended any hopes of a Hales come back when he scored the fourth just before the final whistle.

"We did well for a long time but Curzon Ashton were the better team and deserved the points," added Brookes.

"The weak squad does highlight the need to strengthen during the summer, but knowing John (Hill) will be award of the situation and has probably already started planning."

Meanwhile, the club's presentation evening will take place on Saturday, May 9 in the James Grove Lounge. Doors open at 7pm with entertainment all night and the presentation starting at 9pm.
