OLD HILL slumped to 13-5 as their Division One campaign in the Birmingham Premier League ended with a 130-run defeat at Barnards Green.

The home side had set them 218 for victory having been bowled out in the 50th and final over.

Having been asked to bat first, Alex Hepburn led the way with 78 before he was run out by Nitesh Patel, and he was ably supported by Andy Ford (40) in a second-wicket stand of 68. Ashlea Brewer (25) and Jonathan Dovey (2-38) also added useful runs down the order.

James Howell (2-42) and Patel (2-38) were the pick of the Old Hill attack.

But in reply the game was effectively killed off as a contest when openers Wagar Ahmad and Nigel Davenport were both removed by Hepburn without scoring.

The same bowler then removed Thomas Genders (4) and Dan Brosnan (0) with Rishekesh Umasuthan Umasuthan removing Patel for the first of his two wickets.

Billy-J Cox offered some resistance with 33 and Howell (16) and John Preece (10) both got to double figures but they could not prevent the inevitable which arrived when Daud Islam was dismissed to become George Rhodes (3-13) third wicket with the third ball of the 30th over.
