A STAFFORDSHIRE stately home is getting set to host a food festival packed with treats for the whole family.

Shugborough Hall will be the venue for the Great British Food Festival on Saturday July 9 and Sunday July 10.

The festival will have a traditional British flavour but with a twist to reflect the nation's culturally diverse cuisine from an array of food and drink exhibitors.

Family entertainment will include face painting, balloon modelling and a children's cookery school.

Exhibitors will be giving talks on food and cookery demonstrations while lads with a big appetite will be able to take on a man v food challenge.

Top prizes will be on offer for bakers in a cake-off competition while live music will be providing a tuneful backdrop for the event, which will be open from 10am to 5pm.

Visitors are also being encouraged to wear red, white and blue to enjoy a day out in the historic Shugborough Hall estate.

Adult tickets cost £7.50 on the day or £6.50 in advance, entry for children aged up to 12 costs £3.50 and a family ticket fo rtwo adults and up to three children costs £20 on the day and £18 in advance.

There will be free parking a short distance from the site.

The admission price includes, free entry to the estate's formal gardens, walled garden, Island Arboretum, The Wilderness, tea room and shops.

Great British Food Festival visitors will also get reduced entry charges to the Mansion House, Servants Quarter’s, County Museum, Georgian Working Farm and Mill at £5 for adults and £4 for children.
