Lottery funded work at Dudley park to begin

4:10pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012

FURTHER work at Dudley’s Priory Park is set to begin next month, as part of the multi-million pound restoration project.

The work, which will begin on March 5, is part of the £2.6m Heritage Lottery Fund programme, which will see the installation of lighting in the historic ruins, planting of tree avenues, repairs to path surfaces, new signage and artwork and the resurfacing of the five-a-side football pitch and bowling green.

The pavilion will also be redeveloped and will include new toilets and a living roof.

Over the course of the next few weeks, all dead, dying and dangerous trees will be removed, with new trees set to be planted over the coming two years.

Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “Dudley Council is taking important steps to help make Priory Park an historical green space that can be enjoyed by several generations to come.

”We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we undertake this first piece of arboriculture work as part of the programme of improvements.”
