A Kingswinford secondary school student emerged victorious at 'Youth's Got Talent 2024'.

Mia Westwood, from Crestwood Secondary School, was crowned the winner of the contest for 11-16 year olds, which was organised by The Saleem Foundation's Youth Club.

Mia secured a £100 prize for herself and £1,000 for Crestwood Secondary School.

The Youth Club, which has been active in the community since its launch in July 2021, has a total of over 500 registered young people.

Spearheaded by community ambassador Cassie Gray, the volunteer-led group marks its third annual event that saw entries from four schools, including the previous year's winners, Summerhill School, alongside Kingswinford Academy and Beacon Hill Academy.

The talent showcase was hosted by Brian Bassingthwaighte from the Kingswinford Christian Centre.

There were 150 entries and five roadshows, which led to the final 30 acts performing on Thursday, April 25 at the Kingswinford British Legion.

Founder of the foundation, Shaz Saleem said: "Thank you to all the lovely people for attending and supporting our amazing youths.

"My grandad, Mohammed Saleem was a teacher, and when setting up the foundation in his name back in 2019, the trustees wanted to ensure supporting our youngsters was at the heart our foundation."

He added: "And as the foundation turns five since officially becoming a charity, I’m so proud of this now annual event, as we are giving our talented youngsters a platform to showcase their talents."

Cassie Gray, TSF Youth Club leader, said: "On behalf of our youth club I want to thank everyone who attended and supported, its that support that has helped the club go from strength to strength.

"I would like to also say a special thank you to all our volunteers who week in week out give up their time and make our club amazing."

The next competition has already been penciled in for March 2025.
