COMMUTERS are experiencing long delays following a “substantial” oil spillage on the M5 between Quinton and Oldbury.

Lanes were closed on the M5 North between junction 3 and 2 this morning (Monday, January 9).

The spillage was the result of a collision and a specialist clean-up team was called to the scene.

National Highways has said there are delays of an hour and five miles of congestion.

In an update, National Highways: West Midlands tweeted: “All 3 lanes now open following the earlier collision, spillage and barrier damage.

“Very long delays of 60 mins and 5 miles of congestion remain but this should start to clear now”.
