JUST a third of Dudley people are doing the job they wanted as a child according to a new survey.
Figures published by public sector recruitment company We Manage Jobs show 67 percent of borough people are not doing their dream job while ten per cent say they like nothing about their current role.
In Dudley the most popular childhood career choices were teacher, rockstar and vet while across the whole west Midlands teacher, vet and nurse were the top three.
Manny Sandhu, head of resourcing and recruitment at We Manage Jobs, said: “It’s a real shame people are not fulfilling their childhood dreams but unfortunately sometimes the road from the playground to adulthood can throw obstacles in the way.
“Our survey found that the jobs that people most wanted to be in as a child are in actual fact public sector roles. It’s never too late to change career path or to realign your working life so you are closer to achieving any goal.
“Our stats also show that people are generally unhappy at work and that could be because they don’t feel fulfilled.
“In the public sector there are lots of chances to make a real difference across a sector that is vibrant, challenging and where you can go home each day knowing that you’re part of something bigger.”
